About Despite

Hi! I’m Frederik Müller. Some people call me Schotter, some call me Ken or even Gott, but Freddy works just fine.

In my biweekly posts I provide you with snippets of gossip, observations and thoughts, queer analysis, a piece of herbalism-inspired poetry as well as recommendations that I find useful in that moment in time. I post in English and German.

About the artist

I am a writer and performance artist based in Leipzig, Germany. As a writer, I am driven by pain, which I transform into pleasure. My essays explore queer and anarchist politics within contemporary culture. I am known to connect thoughts and events with theory and discourse in unexpected, subversive and always deeply transformative ways, while my language is witty, unapologetic and sharp.
In my theater work I explore biographic and historic realities of gender outlaws as well as draw from my own lived experience. I then weave those bits and pieces into surrealist, absurd dramatic text that makes my audience laugh, until they cry. My work is shocking to those who have never seen the gutter and a relief to those who have.
